Mobile reader - API and push/pull from edge rest services

Post by szhman » Mon May 09, 2016 3:18 pm

I am planning for a POC and the objective would be:
1. To leverage Rifidi Edge middleware server (3.5)
2. The RFID scanner is type of handheld device phone based and particularly supporting iOS and/or Android
3. Attach tags to document and scan, read the code and display on phone
5. Send response to RFID edge server and update status
6. Supporting API to push/pull data from reader to middleware edge server

I am looking for a RFID reader (smart phone based) to support this port configuration where the Edge server can communicate to the reader and looked at the 3.5 guide.

Reference link: http://www.transcends.co/www/docs/Rifid ... er_3.5.pdf (Page 18)

Are there ready to use UI api available to communicate to edge server to connect to rest services end point which can communicate to edge server and update status. I'm looking for a push/pull solution for web based app and looking for underlying api's. Any one did POC with phone based devices, please share your experience. Thanks a lot for your help. Also let me know if you have further questions. Thanks.

Rifidi edge has a web admin dashboard to manage server readers and applications calling the rest commands

http://wiki.rifidi.net/index.php?title= ... _Dashboard

There is also a generic adapter which u reference ..we use for handheld like Motorola Mc 9090 and mobile devices where the mobile device can push tag events to edge server ..we use this in our inventory control solution to manage cycle counts of inventory..usage is explained in developers and user guide

as far as smartphone hardware we partner with Ugrokit - https://www.ugrokit.com/..it's on the near term road map to have our inventory control solution work on ugrokit hardware. http://transcends.co/inventory-control-tool/
