You should use the deb with the package installer

http://askubuntu.com/questions/40779/ho ... mmand-line

The deb can be downloaded on teh Rifidi sourceforge site

http://sourceforge.net/projects/rifidi/

Hi Matt,

I already set up my Windows PC, but I'm having some issues with my Ubuntu.

I'm manually installing via the dpkg the EDGE3.1.0, but after doing it, there is no executable file for the workbench or the server.

or do I need to do everything through the designer?

To setup rifidi edge please refer to quickstart guide for command line /approach steps

http://www.transcends.co/www/docs/Rifid ... de_3.1.pdf

also included in docs folder with install

or use Rifiid Edge Management REST API (as of 3.1)

Edge Sensor Management - http://wiki.rifidi.net/index.php?title=Edge_Management
Rifidi App API - http://wiki.rifidi.net/index.php?title=Rifidi_App_API

The roadmap is to leverage REST API to develop a web UI admin console for sensor Management and Rifidi Apps

Workbench only works in windows and can be configured to connect to a remote Rifidi Edge server

To allow remote RMI connections such as from Workbench one needs to change the rmi ip to the actual ip address of the server instead of default 127.0.0.1

-Djava.rmi.server.hostname=127.0.0.1 in Linux found in rifidi-server

The full list of Rifidi JVM args can be found here

http://wiki.rifidi.net/index.php?title= ... figuration

This then allows Workbench to connect remotely (with 127.0.0.1 this limits workbench to only local use via RMI)

Note: We are looking to depreciate Workbench and replace with a Web based UI leveraging REST - the objective is provide same and extended feature set to manage sensor/apps end to end
