rifidi and motion detection?

Post by zuzoovn » Sun Aug 30, 2015 11:54 pm

Currently, I am using:
- Alien ALR-9900 RFID reader
- Passive RFID UHF Tag.
- 4 antennas Alien ALR-8696-C.

I wonder that can I use rifidi for Motion Detection with Passive UHF RFID Tag?

I just want to make a very very simple project to detect the motion of RFID tag.

Thank you

By motion detection, do you mean simply detecting when the tag enters and leaves the reader's view? If so, take a look at the Northwind Example on the wiki.

Or if you're looking for something even simpler (like just detecting the tag and nothing else), Alien has some very basic Java examples that you can use to get a tag stream from the reader.

I mean I have 4 tags in the table.

Then I move 1 or 2 tag.

My program can detect this moving.

Rifidi read zone monitoring service detects when tags arrive or depart a readzone

There are a few examaple apps in SDK that should to to use/implemnet this service with Rifidi

Thank you so much.

I will study about jumnpstart.

In other hand, did you know any other open source (.Net, ...) for the client side can detect the moving of Passive RFID tag?

Fosstrak is the only other major open source RFID project, but I don't believe it has been updated for a few years.

Rifidi is really your best option if you're looking for something open source.

As far as i know, rifidi can only detect when the tag moving from readzone to other readzone, right?

How can I detect when the tag moving inside the same readzone?

If you mean you want to detect when a tag moves around within the view of a single reader, you will need to devise your own method of accomplishing this. Rifidi works great to detect movement between readers or readzones, but what you're looking for will require some programming on your part.

I recommend looking into the RSSI Monitoring Service:

Thank you
With RSSI Monitoring Service I can get the RSSI value of tag.

Did you have any idea about the algorithm to detect when a tag moves around within the view of a single reader?
