Developing the Community

Post by dorthwein » Mon Oct 31, 2011 9:10 am

First, great work on this project thus far.

While exploring the RiFiDi site and resources I have come up with a few questions about the structure of the project. Please see below.

1) What is the overall legal organization of the project? I've noticed references to Pramari, Transcends, and the RiFiDi.org. Can you please clarify what is still active and what each divisions role is?

2) What is the primary outlet for the core developers to communicate with the greater community and if they needed feedback - through what channel would the request it?

3) Because the project has developed so quickly, it seems help info and documentation is spread out between the core site, the wiki, the blog, and the forums. Some of which was based on a previous version. What can we as a community do to improve the accessibility and quality of the site?

Again great work just a few thoughts/questions.

Danny

Danny,

Thank you for your interest in Rifidi and the community.

1) Rifidi.org is the primary site for the Rifidi product suite and references many resources (wiki, sourceforge, forums) for using the RFID open source products. Transcends is now the primary sponsor and provides consulting, support services and solutions (such as Rifidi Box and business solutions) www.transcends.co. Pramari no longer exists...

2) The primary ways of communicating with the community are 1) using the forums 2) contacting us through Transcends @ info@transcends.co, sales@transcends.co 3) or establishing a partnership with Transcends which provides one with many benefits - http://www.transcends.co/partners

3) Agreed some documentation is scattered and dated. The primary and most up to date information would be - wiki.rifidi.org or checking the forums - forums.rifidi.org (many of the questions posted on teh forums (along with partner requests) are what drives us to rank features and build documentation for future releases. We are currently finalizing the next release of Rifidi edge 1.3 which will include updates to wiki, documentation, and Rifidi.org...

If you have suggestions on documentation gaps or out of date or on the product posting these requests on the General section in the forums is a good location.

Thx,

Brian

Also if the community has blogs, testimonials or ideas one would like posted to the community on they can be submitted via a forums post or info@transcends.co and will be reviewed and posted to the public....
