Rifidi Performance

Post by Hessam » Fri Sep 30, 2011 4:31 pm

Dear Rifidi developers,

I'm working on my master thesis nowadays and it is concerned with RFID middleware and how to enhance its performance. So, my question is: what type of mechanism does Rifidi middleware use for high performance? Is it load balancing mechanism, thread management...etc

Your support is highly appreciated.

Thanks,

We use a very lightweight middleware container (know as OSGI http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OSGi). Within the container we built on top of teh SpringSource framework and we used a lightweight and very fast engine for processing events (know as event stream processing - http://esper.codehaus.org/ Esper is the specific reference implementation)

This allows us to run on very small hardware footprints and process an high volume of information.

The founders also come from deep middleware software backgrounds.

Feel free to ask more detail questions as you dig deeper...
